Sony has Convinced Me: I'm Savin' for a Playstation

This website is admittedly Nintendo themed. That's mostly because the only current gen systems I own are the Wii and the Ds. This isn't entirely my fault, mind you. I bought an XBOX 360 last summer, but it red-ringed on me. So I decided that I didn't want Bill Gate's cronies touching my junk, since apparently everything they touch dies, and I got my money back. As touching as that story is, I was saddened to learn that unlike some systems, the XBOX has great third party games, many of which were released this past winter. But you know what? As HD-DVD died its horrible, gurgling, blood-splattered death earlier this week, I realized that now might be a good time to cash in for a PS3. Its library is finally starting to NOT suck, it hosts the victor of the DVD format wars, and it's overall prettier than its spherical competitor. I've compiled a few great reasons for my shocking conversion.

1. Blu-Ray

It beat out HD-DVD. I like high definition, and Blu-Ray is the place to get it. The moral of this story is that nothing should have an acronym with more than 4 letters in it. And hyphens? Kiss your butt goodbye if you have a HYPHEN in your ACRONYM. We all know that NASA and the FBI would have failed, and we would be ruled by the Russians had they been known as TRB-NASA (The Really Big National Aeronautics and Space Association) or YFN-FBI (Your Friendly Neighborhood Federal Bureau of Investigation.)

2. Games

Heavenly Sword
Resistance: Fall of Man
Ratchet and Clank Future: Tools of Destruction
Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare
Assassin's Creed
Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion
Warhawk
Uncharted: Drake's Fortune
Motorstorm
The Orange Box

Sure a lot of those are multiplatform, but who cares? 6 of the 10 aren't, and 6 EPIC games is a lot of goodness. This list didn't include a single unreleased game, by the way. And with Killzone 2 and Metal Gear Solid 4 on the way it's looking pretty good.

3. Price Point

$399 USD

Finally. And with another price drop rumored to be on the way.

4. Free online

Do I REALLY need to add to that?

5. Long Life Span

Sony says 10 years. I'm guessing 8 at the maximum but for only 400 dead presidents that's a pretty great investment. You can expect a lot more Playstation 3 information available on this site once summer rolls around and I scratch up the mahoneys to afford one. You should consider one too.
