So Tired
So Tired
New article is done. Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaay. I desperately need sleep. Not because it's late or whatever, but because I've failed to get sleep the last like month and a half. So yeah. Read it and weep. Or don't, because that really wouldn't be an appropriate reaction.

SlapStic.com: Now twice a week
So since I've hired one new writer so far, it comes only naturally that the site will begin updating more than just once a week. So from this point forward, there will be at LEAST two new articles each week: one on Tuesdays and one on Thursdays. I may wind up adding even more per week in the near future, but for now that's the new schedule. So enjoy today's article by Jonathan. I personally think that it's his best yet.

New Writers!
So
after a lot of consideration, I decided to hire on a few new writers to
SlapStic's staff. I already found one, a guy by the name of Ryan
Medwid. His first article will be featured as this week's update
Tuesday, and starting next week SlapStic will begin seeing two new
articles each week: one from me on Tuesday and one from him on
Thursday. I'm still looking for two new hires, so if you think you have
what it takes, feel free to shoot me an email (RKRigney@gmail.com) and
I'll tell you what I want for an application. If you've got some comedy
and writing skills you have a really good shot of getting the job. I'll
be looking out for the letters.

Hat Trick!
The
last three articles in a row that I've written have hit number one on
GameGrep.com. That makes me happier than an overweight truck driver who
just won a swimming pool filled with jello. Just thought I'd notify you
readers. Also, my sincerest apologies, but you'll have to wait until
NEXT tuesday for a new article. This is due to a WAAAY overpacked
schedule. I'll have new headlines and VC/WiiWare reviews up sometime
tomorrow though. So I'm trying as hard as I can. Thanks for reading!

This
morning I added a new article, fixed a number of broken links at the
bottom of this page, fixed some formatting issues with older articles,
and ate a gigantic bowl of off-brand cereal. Enjoy.

So
I know that I sort of seem like a flip-flopper with this new article
coming out tomorrow, but I don't care. I have plenty of good reasons
for my conversion, most of them centered around the fact that I'm
completely satisfied with my Wii, DS, and PC. Despite the sudden change
in tone of the media towards the Playstation (for the positive,
obviously) I've become less and less convinced. That's enough for now
about that, though. Just read my article tomorrow morning to see my
reasoning. Today obviously brought new headlines and a new Virtual
Console/WiiWare wrap-up as well (Yes, that's what I'm calling it now).
I also added two more links. Good stuff, I think.

Welcome to SlapStic 2.0
Welcome to SlapStic 2.0

I'm sitting here at 1:30 in the morning writing this ridiculous update log for a good reason. I have to get these thoughts out of my head, or sleeping will be impossible. Over the last two weeks, SlapStic has been slowly and painfully transformed from a dark, simple, (mildly smelly) non-interactive blog into what I've always wanted for the site. My reader base has exploded like a chain-smoker at an oil refinery, multiplying by about 30. I've finally gotten the comment system working to perfection, added Google and Amazon ads so I can gain a bit of revenue (I like money), completely changed the site's layout, finally found a header for the site that I really love, made an "About SlapStic" page, came up with a slogan, and added about 4 new contacts in total to my "friends" (or links) page. This is the direction that I want SlapStic to go in. My goal for SlapStic is (by the end of this summer) to have 20,000 consistent readers. That may sound unrealistic, to the point that you may want to uppercut me in the back of the kidney for saying it, but I think it's easily possible. I'll need all the help I can get in reaching that goal, and I can promise that you can rely on this website to remain loyal to its readers by never once skipping a week. I want ALL of your opinions on each new article as well, and that'll be easy to pull off, thanks to the new and improved comment system. I'm starting to ramble, but I've already made my point. SlapStic has improved dramatically. I plan on continuing the trend.
P.S. - I deleted the article "Dear GameSpot, You Kinda Suck" from my archives, because the negative, rant-like tone of the article, along with some of my word choices, doesn't really reflect what SlapStic is about: hilarious, family-appropriate fun.

Whew...
I stayed up until TWO IN THE MORNING working on that article last night
even though I had to get up at the butt-crack of dawn to go to work...
JB is the one that wrote it, but I edited it and added in so much that
I pretty much doubled the length of it. I'm going to go ahead and make
one thing clear. I DID NOT WRITE, NOR DO I AGREE WITH THIS LIST. I
haven't even played the game that Jonathan put up as number one.
Needless to say he made some incredibly interesting decisions with the
list, as the proposal I gave him before writing it was simply "The 5
Greatest RPGs Of All Time." The absence of two games in particular
(they rhyme with "Linal Pantasy Heaven" and Homo Snigger") really
surprised me. But take the list for what it is, and I think you might
appreciate its "freshness". So that's up now... OH and so is the "About
SlapStic" page. AND the New Games Watch List got updated. AND I'm
trying out a new comment system on the article. Please use it and give
me some feedback! Lastly, I added a new site to my friends list, so go
check that out.
Cheers!

Whoo...
I've been working on the site like a caffeine-fueled spaz over this
last week, and here are some of the things I've accomplished:-Got Google Ads, so I can make some dead presidents back on this thing.
-Created a crappy-looking MySpace for SlapStic (Please friend me)
-Added THREE fantastic blogs to the "friends" section, (Game Usagi, Girls Don't Game and OnNintendo)
-Updated the headlines
-New Virtual Console/WiiWare Reviews
-Working on an "About Us" page
-Cleaned up the Updates Archive
-Fixed some format issues with some older articles (one of them was AAAAALL outta order)
-Successfully convinced JB's Mississippian behind to write a new article for tomorrow
SO I'm pretty much exhausted. But I won't rest... tomorrow you can expect a new article, updated "New Games Watch" page, an "About Us" page, AND most importantly, the ability to add comments to articles! I don't think I'll go back and put the comment thing in older articles, because most of them wouldn't get any comments anyway. Oh and JB's article is going to... anger... pretty much EVERYONE. Hence the subtitle. I kinda like the attitude he takes with it, though. (But they aren't my opinions so DON'T kill me, kill him.)
